- Blinky Palermo, born Peter Schwarze, aka Peter Heisterkamp (June 2, 1943 - February 18, 1977), was a German abstract painter. Schwarze (whose last name became Heisterkamp when he was adopted as an infant) was given his outlandish name in 1964, during his studies with Joseph Beuys at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. The name refers to an American Mafioso and boxing promoter who was famous at the time for "owning" Sonny Liston. According to legend, it was given to Schwarze at the suggestion of Beuys when the famous teacher noticed the physical resemblance between Schwarze and the gangster.

Great picture! I really like how you were able to get the lizard in the picture while still having asymmetrical balance for the whole thing.

I love this picture. I love the lines on the white (I'm not sure what it is but it looks like part of a building). That white compared with the dark grays and black next to it add nice contrast. The little gecko on the white adds a touch of humor and the fact that it is up against a white background makes it pop. One of my favorite things is the shadow the gecko is casting. I love that the shadow is beneath it and beside it where the tail is... it creates a subtle emphasis on the different planes in the image.
